Daya Callan was born in Manhattan, New York in 1951. She moved to a small town, Naples, Florida, when she was about three years of age with her extended family. At the age of 15, she moved to Miami, Florida. Daya presently still lives in Miami.
Her inspiration for humor came from her family members who continually played jokes on visitors and each other as well as from stories she heard various people tell over the years.
About my latest book, Humorous Poems for Children
The poems are written in a slapstick comedy style. They are descriptions of various awkward situations that we all encounter in life. Who hasn't experienced stepping in chewing gum, had rotten food in the refrigerator or screamed when seeing a cockroach? If children could learn to see the humor in life, they will begin to drop the judgments against themselves and others.
This ability to see life in a more lighthearted way provides an extraordinary inner freedom that allows one to change their circumstances and lift the spirit to higher and higher levels.
